Principal, Wight & Company

Stuart is a principal in the PK-12 education practice at Wight & Company. His 36-year career has focused extensively on educational projects including planning, renovations, additions, and new construction.

As a recognized expert in K-12 design, his skill working collaboratively with all stakeholders has been praised by superintendents, school board members and educators across the country. Stuart leads the conceptualization and visioning process, co-creating schools that are resilient and adaptive to change. He is an active member of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO), the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He speaks nationally at conferences regarding K-12 design and sustainability, including EDspaces, Midwest Facility Masters, A4LE LearningSCAPES and SxSW EDU.

Driven by his love for science, art, nature, and photography, Stuart found his passion to become an architect in high school, when his physics teacher inspired him to apply design thinking to solve complex science problems through hands on learning. Through those lessons, he chose to dedicate his future career to the design of the built environment and K-12 schools.
