Nancy Kohout, PE, LEED AP BD+C, is a Principal and a Mechanical Engineering Leader at SmithGroup, one of the world’s preeminent integrated design firms. She has more than 20 years of experience in the building design industry and is an expert in comprehensive mechanical design for mixed-use, workplace, higher education, science and technology, healthcare, and municipal clients. Nancy is passionate about decarbonization and sustainability. She was recognized as “20 Women to Watch in HVAC” by Engineered Systems Magazine in 2021, and she is a subcommittee chair for the “Women in ASHRAE  - Illinois Chapter.” She received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University.
