Ms. Kimle Nailer is a licensed builder and owner of Nail-Rite Construction Company, her company provides residential rehab and renovation services, as well as provide commercial drywall finishing. Ms. Nailer became an active member of the National Association of Black Women in Construction (NABWIC) organization in 2016, and quickly advanced to serve as the National President in 2018. Her leadership has expanded the brand and thumbprint of Black Women in Construction, resulting in increased membership.

Ms. Nailer re-launched her construction company in 2015 to focus on commercial contracting and landed a partnership with Turner Brooks providing drywall finishing services at Detroit’s new  Little Caesars’s Arena for their Hockey and Basketball teams. A year later, Nail-Rite partnered on the redevelopment of 50,000 square feet of retail space for an anchor tenant in one of Detroit’s first neighborhood retail projects. Committed to impacting change in Detroit, she employed 25 Detroit residents as workers to complete the project. Nail-Rite Construction secured another opportunity with The Brinker Team to build the Detroit Piston’s Training Center in 2019.

Kimle Nailer is a successful, heart-centered entrepreneur who uses her life’s story of overcoming low self-esteem, due to the dark color of her skin, as a compelling message to teach women how to transform self-worth into net-worth to advance their careers and become confident businesswomen and entrepreneurs. Her primary focus is inspiring Black Women to pursue careers in skilled trades and become the next generation of general contractors. Construction is an industry that supports the wealth transfer for economic empowerment for Black Communities.

Ms. Nailer holds a business degree from Wayne State University and has successfully built her career as a Senior Business Analyst at major firms. She is also a real estate investor and an avid fix and flipper, developing a rental portfolio over $650,000 in assets. She serves as an Inner Circle Mentor for the Real Estate Investment Goddesses Community teaching women real estate investing.

Ms. Nailer serves as a Planning Commission in her city, and previously served as a Zoning Board officer. Ms. Nailer understands the importance of black women developing careers in construction and development, and serves as a board member with Michigan Women’s Forward, a non-profit designed to provide capital for women-owned businesses. She chair’s the CDFI committee to support funding for women developers, and the serves on the Diversity Committee to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Black- and Women-owned business owners.

She has been widely celebrated for the work she does in the community. She was recognized as a community leader in the Who’s Who in Black Detroit Fourth Edition, a publication celebrating African-American Achievements, and the recipient of the State of Michigan distinguished Governor’s Service Award, Mentor of the Year in the same year. Last year, she was recognized as one of Detroit’s Top CEOs in the “2020 Who’s Who in Black Detroit” Ninth Edition, honored as Michigan Women Forward’s “Woman of Week” for her services empowering women, voted one the 2020 Michigan Chronicle’s Women of Excellence Awardees, and an honored recipient of the Lakeshore Global’s 1st Annual Women in Construction and Engineering Award.

Statement:

Diversity in construction is a critical component to the wealth transfer needed for economic empowerment in Black Communities and can serve as “reparations” for socio-economic injustices against Black Americans. Inclusivity of Black Women in construction careers supports closure of the wealth gap for black families due to the volume of wealth this industry provides.
