She also takes an active role in serving her community by volunteering/founding several nonprofits and industry associations. She is a current board member and Networking Chair of HESNI, Healthcare Engineer Society of Northern Illinois, whose mission is to advance the role of the healthcare facilities services professional through the development and promotion of educational, networking and professional collaboration opportunities. Jess is also a current board member and networking chair of Chicago’s chapter of AMFP, Association of Medical Facility Professionals, which provides education, networking, and resources to the healthcare built environment. In addition to annual golf outings and networking happy hours that fund programs that support women getting into the trades, they also host on-hands workshops to teach women and girls ‘trade skills’ like basic electric wiring.
