As a woman in the construction industry it sometimes feels isolating and unfair. Being a female GC is an isolating role because I'm often the only female in and around the jobsite. It sometimes feels unfair because my ideas and opinions are often overlooked or disregarded because of a common prejudice that permeates the industry that men are more knowledgeable and/or capable, creating an underlying lack of trust in women in the industry, making it more difficult to sell jobs.

Recognizing that all races, cultures and genders are equally capable and knowledgeable in any industry, especially construction is vital to the success of our industry.
