Evelyn Wilwerding

Director of Interiors, HOK

As director of Interiors for HOK’s Chicago studio, Evelyn Wilwerding specializes in designing environments that consider people’s psychological needs and enhance their experience in a space. She is skilled at developing and guiding clients through workplace strategies and interior design across all markets. Evelyn has published essays on acoustics in ecclesiastical design, and is passionate about the exploration of people's phenomenological encounters with architecture and how great design can engage all the senses.

HOK has specialized in the planning and design of healthcare facilities for more than 50 years and uses patient-centered design strategies to help healthcare organizations provide better outcomes and healthier people. Through this work, the vision of patient care has been developed through in-house research, benching of “best practices” from projects, and work for institutions who are advancing the future of health care delivery. Additionally, HOK is at the forefront of research on design for neurodiversity and is setting the standard on how to incorporate neuro-inclusive strategies and guidelines into design, including acoustical sequencing.
