Alejandro Fernandez

Vice President, Thornton Tomasetti

Alejandro is a Vice Principal at Thornton Tomasetti, where he leads the structural design efforts of complex, multidisciplinary projects. His expertise lies in super-tall buildings and bridges in the U.S. and abroad. Recently, he has been focusing on the use of mass timber as a construction material and has been involved in several notable timber projects in the United States including Ascent, currently the tallest mass timber structure in the world, and The Edison, which is on track to be the tallest timber building in the world by 2027.

Alejandro uses traditional materials to develop engineering systems tailored to the opportunities and constraints of timber construction. Some of his notable work includes the Stockholm Central Station Overbuild in Stockholm, Sweden, Tour Miroirs in Paris, France, and Tom Lee Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
