Aalaiyah received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale (SIUC) in 2021. Although she is a recent graduate, she has been actively working in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry for several years. She currently is a Civil Engineer in horizontal designing at Infrastructure Engineering, Inc., a national African American owned civil engineering firm headquartered in Chicago. Aalaiyah has also worked and interned for various general contractors in the Chicagoland area. She is also an active member in the National Society of Black Engineers - Chicago Professional Chapter, who continuously strives to bring awareness and diversity to STEM fields across the world.

Statement:

Having examples of strong women in AEC is essential. Especially for young women who may not feel confident or seen in this industry. I want to be an example that the possibilities are endless, and our continued innovation is needed to push the industry forward.
