Jezieel Cortes
Jezieel Cortes is a Deputy Procurement Officer for the City of Chicago's Department of Procurement Services (DPS). In his capacity as Deputy Procurement Officer, Mr. Cortes manages and directs personnel in the Design and Construction Unit who are engaged in purchasing and contract related processes for several City Departments, while enforcing the City's procurement rules and regulations. He also acts as liaison between DPS and City departments on design and construction contracts related to infrastructure development within the City.
Additionally, Mr. Cortes assists departments in utilizing the City's Small and Mid-Sized Business Initiatives and the Target Market program to increase equitable contracting opportunities for small and diverse firms. Mr. Cortes was instrumental in developing new and streamlined procurement processes to reduce timelines for vendor payments.
