Audrey Wennink

Senior Director, Metropolitan Planning Council

Audrey Wennink has served as senior director leading the nonprofit Metropolitan Planning Council’s transportation policy efforts for the past decade. She leads research and policy development and coordinates transportation initiatives with other facets of urban planning including affordable housing, land use, and the environment.  As a member of the statewide Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition. she coordinated the transit working group that advocated for state legislation on transit reform and funding that led to the passage of the Northern Illinois Transportation Authority Act.  Her team developed the report Riding into the Future:  A Regional Vision for the Implementation of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act.  Prior to MPC she served as a transportation planning consultant for more than a decade.  Prior to that she served in multiple organizational communications roles in Washington, DC and Chicago. She holds a BA in English and Spanish from Colby College and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
