Alberto Mena Jr. first joined TYLin in 2008 as a college intern and has been with the firm for most of his career, having spent time in TYLin’s Boston and New York offices Albert was promoted to Principal in 2024 and currently leads the TYLin Building Sector’s Chicago office, which he started in 2021. 

Born to immigrant Latinx parents, Albert’s passion for the built environment stemmed from working with his father on construction sites. Growing up in Miami, Florida, he relied upon and took advantage of civic institutions, which helped form his belief in the power and importance of design in the public realm. 

Albert strives to collaborate with all team members and stakeholders through his management of new construction, adaptive reuse, and renovation projects for a diverse group of clients, including educational, residential, and cultural institutions. 

In his spare time, Albert can be found running from place to place with his wife, two sons, and dog enjoying the various sights and sounds Chicago has to offer.
