TIME-recognized Moasure LX1 floor plan technology to feature at Chicago Build 2026

Moasure's latest innovation, Moasure LX1, has been recognized in TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 Special Mentions, just ahead of its appearance at Chicago Build Expo.

UK-based measurement technology company Moasure is bringing its innovation to Chicago Build 2026, following its recent inclusion in TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 Special Mentions.

Launched in September 2026, Moasure LX1 introduces a new approach to indoor measurement and floor plan creation, helping professionals across construction, remodeling, flooring, architecture, real estate and more capture spaces and produce digital floor plans more efficiently.

The recognition places LX1 among 100 innovations selected for TIME's Special Mentions, alongside its main list of 300 Best Inventions of 2026.

A new approach to measuring indoor spaces

Creating accurate floor plans traditionally involves taking individual measurements, recording dimensions, sketching layouts, and transferring information into digital software. For construction and design professionals, this can add considerable time to site surveys, estimating, and project planning.

Moasure LX1 brings measurement and floor plan creation into a single workflow.

Combining patented motion-sensor technology with an integrated laser and dedicated smartphone and tablet app, LX1 allows users to measure and draw indoor spaces simultaneously, simply by moving through a property and placing the device against each wall face.

As measurements are captured, a dimensioned floor plan is generated in real time, reducing the reliance on sketching layouts manually or redrawing plans from scratch afterwards. LX1 can also capture non-orthogonal walls and irregular room shapes, making it easier to document spaces that don't follow conventional 90-degree layouts.

The device captures walls, doors, windows, wall thicknesses, ceiling heights and more, with the ability to navigate around obstacles without requiring a direct line of sight. Plans can be further contextualized with annotations, room labels, colors and marked points of interest.

Once measuring is complete, floor plans can be exported immediately as scaled PDFs or CAD-ready DXF and DWG files for use in estimating, design, planning and documentation. For contractors, remodelers, architects and other building professionals, this provides a way to move from on-site measurement to usable digital plans with fewer manual steps.

Unlike subscription-based floor plan services, LX1 is available as a one-time purchase, with no recurring subscription costs or per-plan fees. Plus, the app is regularly updated with new features based on customer feedback, free of charge for all users.

Recognized for innovation, ready for Chicago Build

More than 30,000 people joined the LX1 waiting list ahead of its launch, reflecting significant interest in an alternative approach to indoor measurement.

One early customer, Brian Linc Architect, LLC, described the significant time savings using LX1:

"I'm not wasting time dragging tape and then drawing the floor plans from scratch. 4-6 hours of work can be done in 1 hour."

Founded in 2014, Moasure specializes in motion-based measurement technology, using accelerometers, gyroscopes, and proprietary algorithms to calculate dimensions through movement. LX1 builds on the technology behind the company's established Moasure 2 Series for outdoor measurements, extending its capabilities into indoor measurement and floor plan creation.

Returning to Chicago Build Expo for its third year as an exhibitor, Moasure will be showcasing its measurement technology at booth 548. Visitors can meet the team, discover Moasure LX1, and explore how its capabilities can support their projects.
