The Chicago City Council has approved a mixed-use development at 5301 South State Street in Washington Park. Located at the intersection with East 53rd Street, the proposal will replace a large vacant lot while expanding the existing XS Tennis and Education Foundation campus across the street.

Led by XS Tennis and Center Court Development LLC, the team received approval from the Plan Commission earlier this year. Design efforts are being led by SEEK Design + Architecture and feature a mix of white masonry, light-colored panels, and copper-tone accent panels across both buildings.

To the north will be the taller of the two buildings—a six-story Hyatt Studios hotel. It will contain 125 hotel rooms along with a ground-floor retail space, pool, fitness room, laundry area, and multi-use room.
