Chicago construction firm joins $105M mixed-use project in Westfield
WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — Chicago-headquartered construction firm Skender on Tuesday announced it’s expanded into central Indiana, joining the development team for a $105 million mixed-use project in downtown Westfield.
The project, The Grand on Main, was formerly known as Jersey 32. The Westfield City Council approved the project on July 14 for the southeast corner of State Road 32 and Poplar Street. News 8 first reported on the project in May.
Plans call for 216 apartments, 51,000 square feet of retail space, and 15,000 square feet of office space.
As News 8 previously reported, one feature of the project would be a public plaza, with an art installation honoring Westfield’s historical role in the Underground Railroad. Enslaved people used the network of secret routes and safe houses to escape to freedom in the North or Canada before the Civil War. Visit Wish TV for the full news.
