Additional Details Revealed For Imani Village Near Pullman
)
Additional details have been revealed for the larger Imani Village development at the intersection of South Cottage Grove Avenue and East 95th Street, within the Pullman area. Located just east of Chicago State University, the large multi-phase village is being led by Trinity United Church of Christ, with work already underway.
Meaning “faith” in Swahili, Imani Village will span 35 acres, which the church purchased for $7.65 million over five years, according to Crain’s. Earlier this summer, the first of two senior housing buildings went up on the site. The five-story structure includes 70 units along with on-site services. It will eventually be joined by a second, 63-unit building.
However, the church has a much more ambitious vision for the rest of the site. Later phases call for an 87,000-square-foot urban agriculture center, a 45,600-square-foot athletic center, a 63,000-square-foot food hub and commercial space, a hotel, and roughly 60 residences made up of townhomes and single-family homes. There will also be a small manufacturing center. Visit Chicago YIMBY for the full article.
