WORKSHOP: Illinois Works: Bringing About Equity and Inclusion to Construction and the Trades

The Illinois Works program, at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), is a statewide workforce development initiative that strengthens equity and opportunity in construction and the building trades. The Illinois Works team will highlight how the Apprenticeship Initiative, the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, Career Services, and the Bid Credit Program work together through a coordinated model to move pre-apprentices from outreach and training into registered apprenticeships and employment opportunities, while helping contractors, unions, apprenticeship programs, grantees, and public agencies build a stronger, more diverse workforce. Together, these programs and partners help address workforce shortages, expand access to training, and ensure public investments build both infrastructure and long-term career pathways for all across Illinois.
