PRESENTATION: In Transit: Everything You Need to Know About NITA

The Northern Illinois Transit Authority (NITA) Act went into effect on June 1, 2026, and the first NITA board of directors was seated in September 2026.  The overarching goal of the NITA Act is to make transit the first choice for travel throughout the region by providing a regionally integrated approach to planning and delivering transit.  The creation of this new agency — along with increased transit operations funding -- presents a massive opportunity to improve Chicago's position as a world-class region. How will we transition to this new structure?  How will transit change in Chicago?  This session will fill you in on all the details of how we got here and the exciting transit future that lies ahead.
